Steven Davidson has always had the ability to genuinely ask people, ‘how are you doing?’ Upon asking that, he also displayed his ability to be a good listener, and becoming a psychologist was a natural progression for him. He was also influenced in his career choices by his parents. His father was an engineer and always insisting on the measuring of numbers and science. His mother loves literature and movies, and blending these interests in science and the humanities resulted in Dr. Davidson pursuing clinical psychology.
Dr. Davidson first set out in reaching his goals by earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Whittier College. He continued at Memphis State University to receive an MEd. In 1989, he earned a PhD in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. In his career, Dr. Davidson worked as a psychologist in San Bernardino County and Orange County.
In addition to practicing, Dr. Davidson has been an educator and writer. He taught “Intellectual Assessment,” at Alliant University in Irvine, CA in 2006, and “Theories and Systems of Psychology” and “Introduction to Psychology,” at the University of La Verne, North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, CA in 1989. In his career, Dr. Davidson has received such accolades as being an honoree in the psychologist category for the Best of Newport Beach Awards in 2021, and in 2020, he was named Best Psychologist in Newport Beach.
In his field, Dr. Davidson holds a number of certifications, including as Clinical Psychologist; Measuring & Evaluating Learning (ROI) from the American Society of Training & Development (ATD); and Proficiency in Substance Abuse Treatment, College of Professional Psychology from the American Psychological Association. Throughout his career, he concentrated on his theory that people are goal-oriented systems and when things go wrong in life something has gone wrong with the goal pursuit process.
